Every weekend another party

Two weeks ago it was Halloween, an evening widely celebrated in the American part of the society and picked up by the commerce in Nairobi as in many countries in Europe. Merijn was staying over with a friend, so I was able to join my colleague Anand to a party at a residence in Muthaiga where Sarah from Canada was living. Most people were dressed up and even I got a Viking helmet named Annaphrid planted on my head, to blend inn. People played their favourites they found on Sarahs ipod and enjoyed the lovely food that was brought with joined effort. I loved the Tiramisu, especially after adding a little whiskey, since amaretto was lacking. The party proceeded at the swimming pool in the garden, and others left for another event. The water was really lovely, although I am not a mermaid as Sarah. We left for an event organised by the Goethe institute at Loitastreet, where the Teichmann Brothers were playing, which sounded as from another planet.
Last weekend the NL school organised a surprise party for juf Els, who is working there now for 10 years, of which the last as the principle teacher. We all had to be there before 1030, when she arrived. The pupils and her colleagues had prepared acts, dances and music, which must have been very hard to do under her nose. After a lovely lunch of soup and bread the party was over, and our struggle through Nairobi traffic back could begin.

Soon it will be another party weekend comming up.
