Since we do not have a free day on the 30th of April the NL school decided to celebrate Koninginnedag last Saturday. The party included everything one expects of such a day at a Dutch school. There were many games for the kids, sjoelen, koekhappen, hinderlopenbaan, driewiel race, blik gooien and much more. There was free coffee and tea, and snacks like broodje kaas or kroket, erwtesoep and even poffertjes where sold, besides beer and softdrinks. The compound was decorated with orange flags and baloons, and people could be decorated with orange hair spray and red, white and blue flags on their faces, dressed up in orange cloth. There was a music instalation playing Dutch music only. There was also a flea market where kids toys and (Dutch) books where sold, but also new bags and cloths and other stuf by a few others.
We bought a stack of books, and some zantedesias, for which I have to find a small spot in our garden. I hope they will like it in the red brick soil.
Merijn liked it very much, having orange hair and eating poffertjes with cola togheter with his best friend Hidde, who is selling some books and toys.
