1th of Mai Paradise Lost

On our free day we initially thought of going to Amboseli park, but after information about really bad road conditions. There is construction work going on giving conversions onto stony roads. A friend who was there last Easter had 2 changes of tyres and 6 hours one way. Then a 3 day holiday is a little short for going there. In Katjas travel guide Paradise lost was given as a place worth visiting just outside Nairobi. If you have a few days in Nairobi, do not go here. It is a lovely park with interesting vegetation and bordered by a small lake with farms on the other bank. Little orange boats can be rented or a short walk along the side. There is a natural cave and some water dripping down. If you want to explore the cave it is a good idea to bring your own torch. Main other attractions are camel and horse riding for children as well as feeding a lonely female ostrich. Most people visit this place to have gatherings with family and friends on the parks benches under the roofs of which there are dozens scattered around. The general idea is to BBQ and for this everything can be bought and rented. Besides can one have soda or tea, no coffee is available... although the entrance of the park is through large coffee fields full with red-berried bushes. According to the book it might be possible to get a guided tour in the local coffee production, but we did not see any sign indicating this. I recommend this as the place to go for small housed and gardened people with large families that need a space for a social get together in the green. Similar to what is also popular in Denmark, but in Norway people just go to the parks and shoreline for.
