This week was a relative quiet week. As you can see of the picture of the view from my office. It has been raining some in between, mostly at night. On Wednesday my car had a short stop at the local garage. There my left mirror was replaced, since the glass content was stolen a few weeks ago when I was driving, just as I was to enter the roundabout at where Wayaki changes into Uhuru highway coming from Sarit centre. Merijn was sitting next to me and saw a man just grabbing the mirror. The new mirror has the car registration number etched into it now, as well as the other mirrors and the plastic window rain screens (or whatever they are called). A majority of the cars in this city have received a treatment like this in different degrees. Highest degree is etching in all glass parts of the car inclusive the lights and the registration number painted on all doors and the hood. My car has so far never been parked on the street only in closed and surveyed parking spaces here in Nairobi where the risk of car theft is very low. The electronic system of my particular car makes theft also something for the pro. The garage owner called Tom had never handled a smart key car before. So I had to explain him what not to do. That is starting the car with the door open and stopping the car geared in anything else but P(ark). This garage is on walking distance of ICRAF and I was given a ride to work as a part of the service. I concluded that Toyota EA has a lot to learn.
