Nothing special. Everyday life goes on, Merijn goes to school whereafter I go to work. When the schoolbus is late than I go a little later to work and since the traffic is increasing I come even a little later to work but never after 0830. Merijn is not easy to get out of bed in the morning. After he is finished playing computer games he has much energy left and wants me to read to him more than one chapter. The book we finished yesterday is called ‘Piraten bloed’ and it is very readable.
Everyday life has found it’s pace. We enjoy the nice weather and go swimming every weekend at the UN recreation centre. There is the bar also open again, serving good food for reasonable prices. Days in the office are often long, compared with Norwegian standards. I seldom leave before 17, and take something to read home. I have also started to go to Kiswahili classes at the UN.
It might be funny to read that I miss my life in Norway very much. I miss my house and Misu the cat (see picture), the university and all lovely people working there and all my other friends. I am even missing Oslo and Ski a little, although it’s hard to admit. I miss the silenced of snow and the anticipation of spring.
Merijn expresses that he misses his friends and living in Norway a lot too. He has friends at school, but the distance impairs out of school visits. In our streets are very few other kids, and like us they also live behind locked gates and are very seldom in the streets. We are planning to go back to Norway during the summer holiday, although where when and what is uncertain. First Merijn has a spring holiday in March, let’s see what we plan for that.
