Friday 19 December PreXmas activities

Yesterday evening there was Xmas and end of year celebration at the Merijns school. All the parents had brought some food, making a large buffet full with good food for every taste. The childeren sang a number of Xmas songs in both Dutch and English on which they had practiced a lot accoding to some of the parents. Merijns teacher Barbara will leave to have a baby and subsequently return to NL.

At ICRAF there will be a End of year party this afternoon. The organisation has made a full program containing not only food and drink, but also a lot of activities. Merijn will finish early today, so I will pick him up to join. Childeren are alowed, but not partners.

Sunday we will leave for NL, so today I also brought my little ecosystem to the office. This consist of a flower pot with bark, two orchids, hedra helix and a tiny gekko. The little lizard will keep the number water and fruit flies low I guess. Two weeks ago I found him in my washed cloth that Joyce had put into a bucket. He was caught and placed at the windowsil, but I think he prefered the flowerpot above the great outdoors. The next few week he will keep Katja company, who will spend her holidays in Kenya and will come by the office regularly.
