Sunday 30th Mai 2009 Business at the coast

We just arrived back from the coast. This time we flew, Merijn and I were able to fly there and back for € 200, although taxis have to be calculated in to. From home to Diani this will be another €90 in total for the whole trip. The weather this time of year at the coast was a little cooler, not just hot, with a little overcast. This makes activities much more doable than both October and March, when we were there before. When we landed on Thursday and Eirik was shopping at Nakumatt Likoni, where we met him. He showed us the items in his trolley he had never bought before, diapers. We drove back in the pickup with a serviced motorbike in the back. At the house in Mwesambweni we were immediately shown the sleeping little girl, Imani. Now she was 3 weeks old, but since she was born a little early, she was still very small. I was not offered to hold her, there were so many hands taking care of her already; the mother of Imani: Moreen, the grandmother, the aunt, the aya and the father Eirik. I am not that crazy about babies anyway so I do not mind. Also Merijn thought she was very small, he prefers other childrenwhen they can join in the swimming pool. Eirik is very happy to do this in-between everything else. On Friday we went to Shimbahills were we visited the test plots and had a fantastic lunch with Steven and his family. On Saturday I worked on my labtop, played with Merijn in the pool and took a walk on the beach with Amani the new dog. While Merijn played in the pool and watched cartoons on his and my labtop. On Sunday we packed everything again and went to Diani together with Eirik. On the south end of the Diani road two Norwegians are building a small hotel, but with a very decent standard. We were invited for waffles with jam, which is very common in Norway. Merijn really loved them and after that he had to try the pool, while we had another beer. Before we knew it was time to head for the airport again.
