At the coast we had a very, very good time. It was warm, but not unbearable. And living next to the Indian Ocean there is alway a breeze. Most of the time we stayed at Eiriks place, who lives together with Moreen in Mwesambweni. He is working with Jatropha too, up in the Shimba Hills. So three days in a row we went up the sandy roads to visit farmers and others that have old Jatropha plants to donate information and imput into the Bioenergy genebank I am working on. We met a lot of nice people and had some unfortunate experiences as cars breaking down and so on.
At Eiriks place I processed the data, photos and samples, besides having a good time in and out of the water with Merijn. One evening we had diner at Eilif and Henriettes place, Eiriks neighbours. We were having duck, that we had seen sitting in the garden just a few days earlier, having a good life together with all other animals under the palm and other trees, where here and there orchids are growing. Over diner we met Ellen and Wim, who are living in between. They have their house in Diani for sale, but the last night we were able to overnight there and cellebrate the Fourty Thieves - beach bars 25 years anniversery music festival. Here even Merijn made some new friends. The atmosphere was realy great, probaly helped a little by the free and quite large glass of champagne per ticket.

Flying to Mombassa takes a little more than one hour, and preffered by many above driving because of the high excident rate.
Tomorrow it is a normal day at work and school again.
