5 December 2009 St Nicolaas in Nairobi

This saint seems to become more and more popular in this city. The NL school was crowded place filled with anticipating children and their parents at 0930 on this Saturday morning. Also this year he came on a white pony with one of the pieten on a brown pony. Some of the children found those more interesting than the saint, and they were doing rounds with some of the kids on their back. The Saint went to work straight away addressing each kid personally and giving it its gift. There was free coffee, juice and speculaas and later there were selling croquette and erwtesoep, but 25 C in the shade, was a bit to warm to enjoy that kind of hearty soup. There were some kid activities as a pietentest, making of a hat and a jumping castle. Merijn managed to steal the castle guards’ hat. Merijn received a gift to, 3 DVD, which he has already watched many times.
