House and stuff - Thurday 11 September

Today everything beyond de 26kg per person arrived. I left 6 boxes at the post department of UMB 15 August to be send after we had arrived in Nairobi on instructions ICRAF. Being here I asked for the best way to get them here, that was said to be DHL, and so it was. So 25 August a lott of forms were filled out after my instructions at the UMB and the boxes were send before it became weekend. Somewhere last week I was notefied that it had arrived at Nairobi Airport, but my Dutyfree Diplomatic status had to be confirmed before it could be released, this is not jet finished, but it was sendt to ICRAF on prior releas this morning. So after lunch I ordered a taxi to bring everything to Gigiri Homestead B&B.
Just in time
Yesterday I left work at 10 in a taxi and togheter with taxidriver we asked securitygards in certain areas in Nairobi if they knew of vacant houses. They often know long before a residential agency puts up a sign. A vacant house has almost always a guard/occupant that lives in the servants quarters, that has a key to open the house and the telephone nr of the owner or the agent. I think I have seen 10 different places called 20 telephon nrs. Two places were available and in my range housing expences of which one in the area that I have to live to be able to combine Merijns school and my working hours. The result is that I returned at 15 at ICRAF and had a agreement to rent a place at Donjo Sabuk avenue nr 8 (This is not a Post adress!!!)
It is a house in the garden of Mr Pati that is newly renovated into 2 appartments of which the 2nd floor was available. It contains 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, an open kitchen and livingroom, free access and use of the garden. Tommorow I will go there and sign the contract and hear when we can move in. That is when vernice of the floor is dry. Monday Merijns school has a study day, so I guess that will be a good day.
